#1 Ben Johns
At 20 years old, Benjamin Johns isn't just the youngest pro in our list, he's also the top pickleball player in the world. Originally from Maryland, Johns' family split their time between the east coast and Naples, Florida, the unofficial "Pickleball Capital of the World." Racquet sports are in the family's blood, with Johns' older brother, Collin, a former pro tennis player.
Johns picked up a tennis racquet at 8 years old, playing competitively for the next decade. Before his senior year of high school has even started, Johns was feeling burned out on tennis and decided to pick-up pickleball.
Not long after, he competed in the U.S. Open in Naples, Florida—the following year, he would go on to win it. Since the 2017 U.S. Open win, Johns has been an unstoppable force in pickleball, winning gold in Men's Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles at every major tournament. With major tournament wins also comes notoriety, including a first-of-its-kind endorsement contract with Franklin Sports, and a signature paddle.
#2 Tyson McGuffin - Player Profile
Tyson McGuffin was introduced to pickleball in 2015 by a friend who he played tennis with. At the time, McGuffin played and coached competitive tennis. After a few casual games of pickleball, Tyson entered the Coeur d’Alene Classic and took gold in the Men's 4.5 Singles division.
Selkirk spotted a rising star, and offered Tyson a sponsorship and the chance to enter a new kind of racquet. With a sponsorship in hand, and several more first place finishes, McGuffin played his last day of competitive tennis in June of 2016.
Today, he's one of the most decorated pros in pickleball and widely regarded as the best player on the planet. Tyson lives in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with his wife and three kids.
#3 Frank Anthony Davis
Frank Anthony Davis has rapidly climbed the professional pickleball ranks in recent years. A Philadelphia native, Davis has soared from top 25 to top 3 pickleball players in the world with recent wins in the Atlantic Region Singles and multiple doubles titles with Kyle Yates, a top 10-ranked Men's Singles and Doubles professional. Davis travels nationwide competing in professional pickleball tournaments with his HUDEF FAD Signature paddle.
